Welcome to Clearspace!
Have you ever felt overwhelmed, with a very long and never-ending to-do list, exhausted, and resentful because you never have a moment for enjoyment? If you said "all the time!!", welcome! You're in the right place!
My business, Clearspace, came about because I was struggling with emotional baggage and I had no idea what to do with it. I started learning some tools and techniques to process uncomfortable emotions. In the process, I discovered one of my patterns is to say "yes" to absolutely everyone and everything - except to myself. Everytime I said "yes" to another commitment, and to helping someone else, I said "no" to my own projects, priorities and joy in life.
I've walked a long, long road with this exhausting habit. I can save you years of despair and resentment. I wrote and published my first book "No Problem. The Upside of Saying No" because of everything I learned.
Hey - in case you're wondering - I'm not saying this to brag. I really do have the T-shirt. I can show you a more joyful, fulfilling way to live because I've walked the uncomfortable one first, like you.
I am now committed to self-care, transformation, healing old limiting patterns
and getting real enJOYment out of life!
You see, I've always carried the world on my shoulders. Said in another way, I was a rescuer tasked with saving the world. I had a white horse, a cape and I charged around on this horse looking after everyone else, making sure they were happy and taken care of. While of course, neglecting my own needs. ("Needs? What needs?")
One day, I was in tears from exhaustion, overwhelm, resentment, anger - in a long tunnel with no light at the end. I knew when I finished one task, 5 new ones would take it's place. I was taught (by a very well meaning and dear Mom) that we can only rest when all the work is done. Guess what? It's never done. So I never got to rest, recharge my batteries and fill the energy tanks.
On that auspicious day, my colleague who I'd started a training company with, asked me "Liesel - WHO gave you all this work?!"
In a heart-stopping and nauseating moment, I realised it was none other than ME. I took on the accounting, website building, admin, organizing of workshops, doing manuals, and any number of other tasks because I nobly thought I'd save her from doing techy-stuff that she wasn't good with.
I didn't ask for help ("Ask for help??? Me? Never!"), soldiered on and started hating my life. I didn't want to get out of bed or face the day because nothing in it brought me joy anymore. All my enjoyment (like reading, embroidery, crafts, walks in nature, going to the movies) was on the backburner. It was all about responsibility, carring the load and making sure all the work was done.
Phew. Exhausting and not very pleasant, looking back now.
Have you been there? Are you there now?
I can help. Really. There is hope! It doesn't have to stay like this.
Imagine living a life where you get to choose. Where you build in your joy-activities first. Where you leap out of bed because the day's filled with things and activities you can't wait to enjoy. And a life where you rest when you need it, guilt-free, while the work and everybody else waits for you to recharge.
Can't imagine that? Neither could I, a couple of years ago.
I'm here to give you the message that it's possible, and it feels wonderful. The happiness you can experience, spills over to those around you, too. When you take care of your own needs and fill your energy tanks regularly, life looks rosy and feels even better. Others are happy in your proximity because you vibrate at happy levels.
